The impressive Palacio de la Moneda from the Plaza de la Constitucion. Originally the colonial mint and formerly the presidential residence, this edifice occupies an entire block. It was damaged by the airforce during the 1973 military coup and was restored before the return to democracy. It now houses the presidential offices though the president does not reside here.
