Monsoon and Mangoes

Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India

After a wonderful family celebration in Madurai, we temporarily parted company to spend a short time with our respective families.

M's visit to Mumbai in recent years has usually been late in the year, so it was a nice change to be in the city during the monsoon, albeit a weak one this year. There haven't been any serious downpours lasting 3-4 days nonstop and none severe enough to bring local trains to a grinding halt on flooded tracks, an annual occurrence in this city. Perhaps a wet September will make up for the deficit. But there have been intermittent mini-spells everyday and it has kept everything fresh and green.

Another advantage of being here at this time of the year is the opportunity to indulge in delicious late-season mangoes. Need to re-think the timing of future visits to coincide with the mango season!

@Hari: Will do
@shankar: We missed the downpour in Delhi too (apparently a record of sorts of August) but we did wade through the floods :-)
@Pranav: We are doing alright with our visas. More hits than misses. Detailed posts yet to come. From Malini and Venkatesh, on Sep 18, 2012 at 03:27AM
